“It’s my
time, it’s
my turn,
it’s my
season, I’m
walking into
it.”
Atlanta-born
EMI
recording
artist
LaShun Pace
is letting
the world
know that
God’s
faithfulness
has endured
and she’s
ready to
testify in
this, her
sixth career
solo album,
fittingly
entitled,
It’s My
Time.
In a career
that spans
three
fruitful
decades and
a life that
has seen its
fair share
of trials
and
tribulations,
LaShun has
kept her
focus on
using her
musical
talent to
glorify
God. This
Gospel diva
started
singing in
the early
70s
alongside
her sisters
in the
Anointed
Pace
Sisters,
although her
unique flair
propelled
her to the
forefront.
In 1990,
Savoy
Records
signed her
to her fist
solo project
entitled
He Lives
which
reached
number two
on Billboard
Charts. She
followed
that with a
sophomore
project in
1993
entitled
Shekinah
Glory,
and three
more albums
entitled
Wealthy
Place, Just
Because God
Said It
and God
Is Faithful
respectively
In her
latest and
most
anticipated
album – It’s
My Time -
singer/songwriter
LaShun Pace
navigates
effortlessly
between
contemporary,
pop-inspired
sounds and
more
traditional
selections
reminiscent
of
old-school
gospel
music. The
title track,
which opens
the album,
is a joyful
proclamation
of her
personal
triumphs and
her
conquering
spirit.
For My Good
is a quiet,
reflective
ballad with
unadorned
instruments
accompanying
her
testimony:
“For my
good, all
that I’ve
been
through, God
gets the
glory”.
There, she
exhibits
exceptional
vocal
control as
she shifts
from
saccharine
to
full-bodied
soprano with
the dramatic
ease that
defines her
sound.
Contemporary
tracks such
as Cool
Praises
and Hey
speak to the
resilient
optimism of
this
modern-day
psalmist as
LaShun
addresses
current
issues like
“when
your love
walks out
the door and
your heart
can’t feel
no more,
say, ‘hey’,
its gonna be
alright, the
sun is
shining no
matter what
comes your
way. There
must be some
rain in your
life in
order to
appreciate
the
sunshine.”
LaShun
transports
us to the
Deep-South
with her
poignant
rendition of
the
blues-infused
Emotions
which
reminds
listeners of
an
old-school
church
melody
complete
with an
audible
Hammond B-3
organ and
full-bodied
choir. The
song
climaxes as
LaShun
trills
“Help me
Jesus, help
me Lord!”
in
call-and-response
form with
the organ.
I Trust
You is a
touching ode
to Psalm 25
“O keep
my soul, and
deliver me:
let me not
be ashamed;
for I put my
trust in
thee.”
Accompanied
by a
resounding
Gospel
choir, this
song is the
prayer of
the faithful
in the
harmonious
splendor of
a Sunday
morning
worship
service.
I Know The
Lord Will
Make a Way
brings
listeners
back to the
old time
religion
with the
straightforward
candor of
vocals &
piano in
poetic
entreaty.
Having
written ten
of the
eleven songs
on this
album,
LaShun Pace
ministers
through the
windows of
her soul.
It’s My
Time is
a deeply
personal
testimony of
trials and
triumphs of
a woman
who’s
conquered
adversity
through her
undying
faith in the
Almighty.
It not only
speaks to
the strength
of her
spirit but
also to the
strength of
her talent
as the vocal
ingenuity of
LaShun’s
engaging
soprano
leads us in
psalm.
