Stephen Hurd to Release
My Destiny in October
CD Urges Believers to Seek,
Fulfill God’s Plan for their Lives
MOBILE, Alabama (August 25, 2006) – Integrity Gospel announces the forthcoming release of My Destiny, a new 20-track album from worship leader/songwriter Stephen Hurd.
Hurd recorded My Destiny at Temple of Praise in Washington, D.C. with renowned producer Steven Ford. The project contains new songs, most of which were written by Hurd, along with spoken word messages that focus on the believer’s calling in Christ.
“My Destiny is a ‘now’ word,” explains Hurd. “It is a trumpet, clarion call for us to line up with the call of God for our lives. I hope it will impact and challenge people from all walks of life to get away, quiet themselves and hear God.”
“The song “My Destiny” is a positive declaration,” he continues, “confirming that we receive His plan for our lives even if it is not yet clear or is still being revealed to us.”
With Ford at the production helm, My Destiny brings a contemporary Gospel edge to songs of praise such as the title track and the rousing “Great Praise,” which Hurd co-wrote with Jonathan Nelson and Justin Savage. It also contains simple, raw moments of worship such as the “Morning Medley” which features Hurd singing softly at the piano.
“You can’t sit and passively listen to this project,” says Integrity A&R Director Chris Springer. “Stephen won’t let you. He pulls you in at every turn.”
My Destiny will be available in Christian retail stores beginning October 3 through Provident-Integrity Distribution. In addition, Integrity plans to release split trax for the project.
Stephen Hurd currently serves as assistant minister of music at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Landover, Maryland. On August 21, he will assume the role of Senior Pastor of Music following in the footsteps of his mentor, Shirley M.K. Berkeley who will retire following more than 50 years of ministry. Hurd himself celebrates 20 years of full-time ministry this year.
In addition to My Destiny and his previous Integrity release, Call To Worship, he recorded two independent projects, Corporate Worship and In The Overflow. Hurd has made numerous guest appearances on TBN’s “Praise the Lord” and BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel.” This summer, he also will appear on the nationally-syndicated Gospel Superfest.
