Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As you may know, The Second Annual Urban Impact Summit featuring Bobby Jones and Feel So Good Entertainment kicks off this June at Foxwoods Resort. We have tailored One days of this year’s conference to benefit the youth of today by producing the “We Got Nex Teen Summit” on June 27,  geared “To Educate, Empower, and Embrace our Youth”.

We are asking for your blessings in encouraging our youth to attend the “We Got Nex Teen Summit” where they will attend four 60 minute workshops as follows:

*Dealing with The Violence Within Me: featuring The Rev. Darren Ferguson, a phenomenal youth leader, who spent 9 years in jail before turning his life around.  Rev. Ferguson is critically acclaimed nationwide, a former youth minister of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem who is the co-founder of the Hip Hop Church and Pastor of Luke 4:18 Ministries.

*From Trouble To Triumph: featuring former drug lords turned Christians, Lance and Todd Feurtado.  The Feurtado Brothers have taken their message across the country and been featured in magazines and news accounts for their inspiring message.

*Find My Purpose UnLeash My Gifts: featuring Christian Rapper, Holy Hip Hop Legend BBJ.

*Destined To Lead, Developing Purpose Driven Youth: featuring Urban Impact Founder, Min. James L. Walker, Jr., a graduate of the Yale Divinity School, who has touched the lives of hundreds of kids over the past year, speaking and teaching at colleges and correction facilities throughout the New England area.

*Let’s Talk About Sex: Facing the Crisis of Teen Pregnancy and HIV/AIDS:  featuring Rev. Patricia Jones of the inner-city Bridgeport Church.  This discussion will deal with the issue head on and how the church must grapple with the issue of sex, AIDS and HIV in the new millennium and really talk to the kids about these real issues.

Now in its second year, the Summit offers events for everyone. There will be performance opportunities for new Gospel Artist wanting to showcase their talent on TV, The Word Network. If you enjoy the sounds of Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, Dottie Peoples, Charles Hayes, Stephen Hurd, and John P. Kee, don’t miss the nightly shows with these gospel greats. And, for those youths interested in performing, there will be auditions for the “We Got Nex Talent Search” and a chance to win a recording contract as well.

The goal of the Urban Impact Summit is to embrace, educate, and direct the urban culture toward greater opportunities. On Monday and Tuesday, there will be panel discussions where music industry executives and performers, and economic, social and political leaders impart knowledge to aspiring professionals, youth, and members of the community.

In keeping with the goal of the Urban Impact Summit, “We Got Nex” Teen Summit provides a platform for change starting with the youth being the leader and catalyst for change. The Summit is a premier urban youth event that initiates a massive movement of young people to have an encounter with Jesus and to make the decision to follow God’s Will for their lives.  It is designed specifically to identify with the needs of our youth and lead them to become engaged, inspired, and empowered to take positive action with their lives. .

Registration for the “We Got Nex” Teen Summit is $40. We ask for your partnership in registering our youth for an opportunity to experience a life shaping event.  The teens will engage in a power packed day that will include the substantive panels above, sprinkled in with music and entertainment from top DJ’s, a scholarship ceremony and the recognition of a few community leaders.

The Foxwoods Resort is the home of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum ad Research Center. The world's largest and most comprehensive Native American museum and research center offers an array of engaging experiences for young and old, from life-size walk-through dioramas that transport visitors into the past, to changing exhibits and live performances of contemporary arts and cultures. Four full acres of permanents exhibits depict 18,000 years of Native and natural history in thoroughly researched detail, while two libraries, including one for children, offer a diverse selection of materials on the histories and cultures of all Native peoples of the United States and Canada. It’s a educational experience for the whole family.

Last, but not least, we will have a special visit by talented artist Julius Petty, a successful and inspiring singer who will minister through song to the souls of our youth. Julius will showcase the release of his new music video “Move” and give us a taste of his upcoming DVD documentary.
